Neutral Recommendation — The Infa Secure Belmont sits low on the car seat, reducing rotational forces on the restraint. The simplified recline mechanism seems like a good idea but has issues outlined below. The improved single seat belt path allows easier re-threading, but the rear-facing lock-off hinders installation.

Infa Secure Belmont Simplified Recline

The traditional recline mechanism used a wedge plus a red recline lever with at least 9 positions. The wedge accounted for different seat depths, while the lever provided additional recline for optimal safety.

Unfortunately, many parents flipped the wedge incorrectly or didn’t know about the red recline lever, causing children to sit upright in rear-facing mode.

The wedge was also too wide for many SUVs — the ideal width is 28 cm, matching Britax seats like the Maxi Guard (26 cm pedestal).

The simplified recline mechanism on the Belmont is similar to the Britax Maxi Guard and Maxi Rider. Unfortunately, it is difficult to release when changing positions from out‑of‑box to recline, or from rear‑facing to forward‑facing.

Rear Facing Installation

Rear-facing installation requires getting the simplified recline into the correct position. The rear-facing seat belt guard keeps the belt aligned but does not lock tension, making adjustment harder.

Infa Secure did not include a red Safe Grip Clamp with the Belmont — a cost-saving measure. With the clamp, rear-facing and forward-facing installation becomes easier than ISOFIX. Without it, installation is much harder for parents who cannot afford a mobile car seat installation .

Split Tether

The Belmont (like all rear-facing Infa Secure seats) has a centre-position split tether. This allows the seat to be placed on the driver’s side in rear-facing mode without modifying the tether, unlike Britax seats.

Unfortunately, with integrated headrests, the tether must go over or around the headrest — neither ideal. The correct solution is an outer-position tether strap (like Britax).

Summary — Infa Secure Belmont

The Infa Secure Belmont has some good ideas — low seating height, simplified recline, improved belt path — but several design issues make installation harder than necessary. The lack of a Safe Grip Clamp, the difficult recline release, and the split tether limitations reduce usability for parents.
