Summary: NOT RECOMMENDED – The Maxi-Cosi Titan Pro is NOT recommended due to difficulty of installation, not using best practices (extended harnessing) and difficulty in operation (loosening the harness). There are other seats on the market that provide extended harnessing at a lower cost.
Size Matters…
Maxi Cosi Titan pro is the latest convertible booster; forward facing and harnessed until 4 years of age (legal requirement) . The Titan pro from Maxi-Cosi Titan seat then converts to a booster (using just the adult lap sash seat belt).
Maxi-Cosi Titan Issues
Problem; In order to wash the covers; the Maxi-Cosi Titan seat requires complete removal from vehicle completely and re-installation. A design fault ; when compared with the Britax seats, where all their seats are family friendly, enabling laundering without uninstalling of seat.
Difficult Installation
However speaking of installation of the Maxi-Cosi Titan Pro ; I have found the access of the belt path for forward facing to be to small to use. This escalates partially on either a Subaru or a Mercedes; where it is difficult to pass the seat belt buckle through the small opening provided for the installation. Thereby I found installation to be clunky and frustrating.
Maxi-Cosi Titan difficultly loosening harness
The frustration escalates when trying to loosen the harness of the Maxi-Cosi Titan; where the parent/career must pull the harness from below the shoulder pad; in comparison the Britax harness operation is much simpler and easier to use. This is an attempt to prevent parents using the harness mode past the booster shoulder height marker, and issue that still exists on the Britax Maxi Rider. Despite the difficulty in loosing the harness, this is a better solution than allowing parent to use a convertible booster incorrectly.
Crash exchange
Maxi-Cosi have a crash exchange; available on the Titan pro . One of only two manufactures stand behind their products . Consequently to take advantage of this exchange you must register your purchase in 60 days from date of purchase.
The Maxi-Cosi Titan Pro is available in 4 fashion colours. Matching interiors of currant vehicles. The fabric’s are pleasant to the touch. Providing a cool wicking effect. Keeping your baby cooler over the warmer months, by drawing moisture away for baby. However this is probably where the positive comments finish on the Maxi-Cosi Titan Pro..
In conclusion I found the Maxi-Cosi Titan Pro is definitely not a seat I could recommend given the reasons mentioned above and the fact that for a premium seat you should be expecting a fully harnessed seat to 7+ years of age (a type G seat) and not a convertible booster seat.
