NOT RECOMMENDED….. update 2016… The Britax Hi Liner Booster seat has not changed in many years and is a very wide booster seat, with the addition of the anti submarining clip. Britax have released the Kid Guard, which is a booster seat without the armrests allowing easier access to the seat belt buckle. Similarly, Infa Secure have the Vario, offers more protection (due to the ACT) than the Hi Liner Booster seat, making it a perfect for your growing child.

PRO’s
The headrest holds your child’s head upright when he falls asleep. It is easy to use with the car seat belt and it doesn’t take up too much room when you have a small car and in some it will allow 3 across, Anti-submarine clip is a great safety bonus.
CON’s
The padding on the bottom of the seat is a little thin.
The anti submarining clip (SLIDEGUARD Clip) is set at the maximum length. This is dangerous when a parent does not adjust the length of the anti submarining clip for their child, this may cause the lap part of the seat belt to sit higher under a child’s ribs.
Additionally when a parent does not use the anti submarining part of the seat then they are compromising the safety of their child without knowing it.
Other car seat manufacturers have the anti submarining designed into the seat by having the back of the seat sitting lower creating a bucket seat type of child restraint to prevent submarining of the child inherently in the design.
Great for if you have limited space in the back seat, looks good and is versatile for the growing child. however the need to use the anti submarining clip relies upon parents to check that the child has passed the lap part of the belt through the clip.
